I'm so thrilled - DE in Gruffalos Class has recorded a reading of his adaptation of 'On The Way Home'.

Well done DE - You're doing so well!!

Please have a listen.

As you know, Walkley prides itself on exemplary behaviour - It is so important!!

Look at all these children in EYFS and KS1 that have shown outstanding behaviour during the Autumn half term. Well done to you all and keep it up!!!

Autumn Half Term Homework.

Well done everyone for an amazing half term.  You have worked so hard.  Look at the blog to see just how hard you’ve worked! walkley2.blogspot.co.uk

Next half term our topic will be “Let’s Celebrate!”

1)      Talk to your parents or special adults about your favourite celebration.
2)      Draw a picture (with pen, pencil, crayon whatever you are allowed to use) about your favourite celebration.
3)      Write about your favourite celebration and make sure you use the word “because.”
4)      Make sure you read your reading book!
5)      Maths
Circle, Rectangle and Square Group:  Write down as many number facts to 100 as you can (there are lots)!!
For example: 40 + 60 = 100 or 55 + 45 = 100

Triangles and Stars:  Write down all the number facts to 10!
For example: 4 + 6 = 10

Have a lovely half term, and stay safe around fireworks!

For last week's Big Write, children in Gruffalo Class adapted the story 'on the way home' by Jill Murphy.

The story begins with Claire tearfully resting against a park bin; a sore graze on her knee. On the way home Claire meets a number of friends and when asked how she hurt her knee, creates a succession of elaborate stories to impress her friends.

The children in Gruffalo Class managed to maintain the structure of the story whilst creating their own exciting tales for their character to tell. We hope you enjoy them!

Many thanks to all our parents and children for their fabulous donations for the Feed the World Harvest. Your generosity and kindness will greatly help those who are less fortunate than us.

Hello

Can I remind parents about the parent reading workshop this Thursday in Burnaby Hall. The workshop starts at 3:30 and runs until 4:15. It will hopefully really help you to support your child's reading at home.

Many thanks, looking forward to seeing you.

Homework in Y2

Children will bring home 3 pieces of homework per week!

1. On Fridays your child will bring home their Learn It! A quick sum for your child to memorise and represent in any way they like, recording in their Learn It book. This should be returned on Tuesdays.

2. On Mondays your child will bring home Handwriting practice sheets to reinforce the handwriting joins being learned in school. This should be completed and returned on Friday.

3. Every Friday your child will be completing a Big Write - You can help your child prepare for this by discussing their upcoming writing (Big Talk) at home. Details of your child's Big Write will be sent home on Mondays for your support in creative writing and their work will be published in class books and on the blog.

Many thanks for your support

Mr Wallis
