I am the Gruffalo!

"Can we agree that when I step on the box I am the Gruffalo?" are words you would have heard in Gruffalo Class today.

Getting into Character

Children in the Gruffalo Class got into character today as they dramatised different points within the Gruffalo story.

How did the Gruffalo feel when he met the mouse?

How did the Mouse feel?

How did the Gruffalo feel when the snake, owl and fox ran away?

See if you can work out how the characters feel from these freeze frame pictures...

 What smashing actors we have!

What a Gruffalo Treat!

What a Wonderful Surprise

Today a wonderful surprise befell the Gruffalos as GF brought this wonderful piece of artwork to school. Sculpted out of papier mache and playdo, the Gruffalo stands 35cm tall. Isn't it amazing?!?

Thank you to all the family for such a wonderful present.

Star Group

Now that Read Write Inc is in full flow, I can start to tell you about STAR group!

STAR group consists of all the children who know all of their sounds and blends, and can read phonetically.  When you have graduated from RWI you spend the mornings with the STARs.

Our aim is for all Year 2s to be in Star Group, however we have a few Year 1s who are nearly ready.

At the moment we have 6 Gruffalos and 1 Anansi but we are hoping more will join soon.

The work is hard but the satisfaction in creating a high quality piece of work is immense.

Over the last few weeks we have done lots of work on the Greek myth of Icarus.  Here are our finished iPad animations.  We hope you enjoy them!

Art Attack

Gruffalos paint Gruffalos

We had fun last week painting Gruffalos, thinking of features and characteristics for our adapted monsters.

We have some excellent artists this year in Y2.

Voting for our School Council

Burnaby children cast their vote.

Our very valuable school council are in session, thanks to a very civilised voting afternoon.

In the morning the prospective candidates voiced their intentions for the executive council before a private vote was held for children to select their preferred choices for the positions on the executive council.

Well done Walkley...
