Brainstorming

How we plan to write...

At Walkley all our children use a brainstorm platform to help them plan their writing.

In the Gruffalos class the children will be producing a class book of adaptations of the Gruffalo story by Julia Donaldson.

First we deconstructed the story to see how it fits onto a brainstorm...

Next the children created their own monsters for their own adaptations.

Now the children are beginning to use the brainstorming format to plan their adaptations.

Look how beautifully Y2s are already working in their Numeracy books. At Walkley handwriting and presentation are really important and in Y2 we are learning the skills to showcase our hard work.

Art Week in the Gruffalos

In Y2 we've been looking at 'Kanji' symbols (Japanese for 'Art') and phrases that mean something to us. The children have drawn and painted the symbols and designed an oriental style border to accompany their kanji.

Also, as part of our 'Castles, Knights and Dragons' topic we've created a Mod Roc dragon - The children are calling him Wilber!!!
